This is one of my BFF's the lovely artist Diane Becker. She is a talented artist, teacher, mentor and cook. She loves color and surrounds herself with light and fun. I enjoyed doing this oil portrait of her. 16 x 18
I rushed in late to painting group and found I didn't have my palette or brushes! Finally scrounging around I found a one inch brush - so this is a loose rendition of the model. I did not catch her name. She has beautiful hair. I will have to paint her again from the photo.
I love getting together with artist friends. Yesterday Diane Becker hosted us for a Lunch & Paint. I didn't get a picture of the group. We had a nice lunch and all worked on our own stuff. I am learning pastels and started on this portrait of my grandson, Cole. Diane worked on a portrait commission, Jana worked on finishing a plein air (or 2), Sharon and Karen started watercolor scenes.
The problem with starting a blog post is getting the photos up and keeping it current. Lurdes is a lovely model. This sketch is in acrylic. We work from life. The model poses for three 20 minute intervals. I find it very challenging. The time goes by so fast for those of us who are painting, but slowly for the model. I know because I have taken a turn at being in the chair.
